A cooperative initiative of the Rivers and Lakes Presbytery to equip the next generation of Reformed pastors for faithful service in Southwest Minnesota.

The Challenge
Rural congregations share a rich heritage faith but face a growing shortage of new pastors entering the ministry, particularly in smaller settings. This "pipeline problem" creates a gap in leadership for vital churches within our region. We seek to address this challenge in a practical and relational way by connecting seminary students to these historic pulpits.
Our Solution
We offer a cooperative initiative where students gain hands-on experience in preaching and pastoral care while receiving consistent mentorship under an experienced Teaching Elder. Whether through a 10-week summer internship or a full-time residency, we provide the necessary financial support, mileage reimbursement, and parsonage housing. This model allows students to focus on their theological formation while being fully immersed in the rhythms of rural ministry.

The Goal
Our primary objective is to introduce students to the unique blessings of rural ministry, helping them discern a long-term call to serve in these settings. We aim to strengthen regional ties among EPC congregations while equipping the next generation of pastors with the skills and confidence they need for ordained ministry. Ultimately, we want to provide the Presbytery with a proven model for developing faithful leaders for years to come.
